You opted to make a run for it to the Wrightsville Columbia Bridge.
Margaret's journey has been long... too long. She's only been one step ahead of Edward Prigg to this point and she does not think that she will be able to stay ahead without a desperate move. That night Margaret leaves from the Buttonwood Tree House and starts running for the bridge. As she begins to near the bridge, a voice calls out in the distance.
Edward: "I knew I would catch up with you here eventually, Margaret."
Margaret sprints toward the river and dives in. Edward Prigg dives after her. Within a few strokes, he has made up the distance and grasps after her ankle. Margaret kicks loose, but Edward reaches out again and takes a hold of Margaret's ankle. He pulls her in. Before she knows it, Edward has Margaret by the waist and drags her back to the shore. Prigg lifts her onto the wagon and carts her off down south to Maryland. Margaret's chances of freedom fade with every step of the horse.
